How AI Is Finding Software Security Bugs Faster Than Humans
A single overlooked line of code can expose personal information, interrupt a business service, or give an attacker access to a system. Finding these weaknesses before software reaches users has traditionally required a combination of automated testing, careful code review, and experienced security researchers. Artificial intelligence is beginning to change that process. Modern AI security systems can examine large codebases, identify suspicious patterns, reason about how different components interact, test potential vulnerabilities, and suggest patches. In some situations, they can uncover weaknesses that conventional tools or earlier reviews have missed. The important distinction is that AI is not automatically better than every human security researcher. Its biggest advantage is the ability to investigate large amounts of code quickly, repeat the process continuously, and help teams examine more potential weaknesses than they could reasonably review by hand. Recent cybersecuri...
